Sammy Gyamfi says E-levy is a form of theft – Ghana

Sammy Gyamfi on e-levy

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) National Communications Officer, believes the present government’s decision to impose a savings tax is beyond his wildest dreams.

He described the Electronic Transfer Levy, often known as the e-levy, as “ridiculous” under Ghana’s taxation plan.

On Tuesday, February 1, he said “In Ghana, under our tax regime, we do not tax savings,” during an interview on TV3, also citing the Value Added Tax (VAT) and other forms of taxing on consumption. He finally stated that the E-levy was a theft not tax.
