Islamic SHS Police shooting

More than 30 students of the Islamic SHS were sent to the hospital after police reportedly used tear gas and live bullets to disperse students protesting against constant vehicle knockdown.

On Monday, June 13, concerned parents descended on the school to demand the release of their children.

The injured students were transported to Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and other hospitals.

“I should be worried but some of them have been re-situated . we will follow to the hospital and see how they are doing,” Regional Education Director Madam Mary Owusu Afriyie told reporters.

Following the disruptions and police firing on the campus, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, is heading to the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi.
