A young guy is being detained by police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly scamming people of the Ejisu Municipality under the pretense of enlisting them in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The suspect, whose name has yet to be revealed, allegedly claimed to be the brother of John Ampontuah Kumah, Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu.

The guy is accused of duping his victims and stealing large sums of money from them.

In a statement, the MP denied ever speaking to the suspect and urged the Ghana Armed Forces to look into the case.

The MP said in his statement, “Furthermore, I call on the Ghana Police Service, the Cyber Security Authority, and allied security services to make a strong intervention to reduce the increasing rate of impersonation and fraud that are being committed in the name of political actors.”
