An Oyoko School of Dispensing Optics student was killed by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night at Sofoline in Kumasi, and police in the Ashanti Region said they are looking into leads that might lead to the killers’ arrest.
Through the driver’s window of his unregistered Mercedes Benz, Kwabena Asumadu, 23, was shot many times.
Suntreso police discovered him at the crime scene shortly after the incident, about 11:50 p.m.
Despite the lack of details surrounding the murder, police sources claim that the victim was attacked shortly after he dropped a friend off at the crime site.
The unknown gunmen allegedly opened fire through the driver’s window of the car as the Level 100 student was returning from his hometown of Offinso after dropping off a female friend.
He was killed instantly by multiple close-range shots from his assailants to the head and neck.
After the offenders escaped, the Suntreso District Police headquarters was alerted to the event.
The remains of the victim was examined and sent to the mortuary at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
As police begin their investigations, members of the Crime Scene Management team have visited the scene.
Police claim they have picked solid leads that might aid in the capture of the gunmen despite the paucity of information surrounding the crime.
It happened after police intelligence was activated to assist in capturing the criminals.
