Meta restores Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram

Donald Trump 45th US president

Meta Platforms has restored Donald Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone confirmed on Thursday, following a two-year suspension after the deadly Capitol Hill riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

In January, Meta said it will end Trump’s ban “in the coming weeks” and would impose stricter penalties of a suspension between one to two years, should the former president violate its content guidelines again.

In preparation for his 2024 re-election campaign, Trump may now use key platforms for voter outreach and political fundraising.

As of January, he has 34 million Facebook followers and 23 million Instagram followers.
